My Hat’s Off To You

My Hat’s Off To You

Images in this post are real-life survivors. Thank you to the ladies who modeled for me  – You are incredible! As most of you know I am a vintage junkie…and I have a thing for old patches. One of the first things I began making, along with my jewelry, and graphic tees, was vintage shirts. I used old hankies, doilies and vintage patches I added to my grandpa’s old pearl snaps or my husbands’s old button downs.  I still remember sitting in my Grandpa Jack’s lap, after he had been out working on a neighbors car, and loving the smell of gasoline coming off his polyester light blue coveralls with his name patch there in big blue letters.  I lost my grandpa when I was 12 years old to cancer. He was here and then gone. But the memories of a strong, happy, loving, giving man who ruled my world remain. He was a fireman, a mechanic an avid golfer and an amazing friend to those who knew him. For a long time now I have wanted to make positive patches. Ones that reflected the women (and men) in life who are inspirations. We all have a story. Some of u,  our story is great. It won’t bring anyone to tears and to me that is inspiring! I say HALLELUJAH! PRIASE HIS NAME for that! But some of us have been to the brink of hell, looked the devil in square in the face, and danced our way back. Maybe you are still fighting your way back. Again I say THANK YOU LORD FOR THE FIGHT IN THEM!!! I have two Aunts who have survived breast cancer on each side of my family. My paternal grandmother survived breast cancer. My mother is a...
Summer 2015 Apparel Photo Shoot

Summer 2015 Apparel Photo Shoot

Oh my gosh you guys I just cannot get over how AMAZING the photos from the Summer 2015 line turned out. We had a gorgeous model, a perfect overcast day out at the ranch, and an incredible editing job on the favorites of the bunch. You can shop the Summer apparel by clicking here.   Just look at how good it all turned out: She’s so fit! I was yelling “FLEX! FLEX!” the whole time! 😛 I just loved this summer scarf photo! Perfect perfect perfect in every way! My personal favorite! Y’all don’t understand how many beautiful pictures we captured of her! This was right near the end of the shoot – we toasted our success! How sweet is she?! And the fine print on this shirt delights me every time! Special thanks to Jessica for editing our favs. If y’all have some good photos and want them to really shine, get in touch with...
Up In Smoke….

Up In Smoke….

IMG_2939 IMG_2939 I don’t think I will ever listen to “Ring Of Fire” again, and I LOVED THAT SONG. Have you ever had that feeling something bad was going to happen but you just didn’t know what or when? I have been having that feeling for quiet some time. I have been paying extra close attention while on the road, worried that the dang big rigs were going too fast and wouldn’t be watching what they were doing on my farm road. I have not been  driving at night as much. I have been checking on my kids more that normal. I have been saying extra prayers of protection over my family and I have even been telling my children to make sure to pay attention to what they are doing and of course to thank God everyday for His protection over us. Now, they have NO IDEA that I have had this feeling, BUT just the same, I have really been struggling with not being fearful of something bad happening. It is not like me. I am generally happy go lucky, but this has just happened to be a pretty crappy year personally (honestly this is why I haven’t blogged this whole year because I was raised “if you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say anything at all” at least not publicly-ha! I just have a lot of talks with God about things).  So, I have had to work extremely hard on loving people in spite of them being ass holes, working on forgiveness even when people don’t deserve it, keeping my mouth shut when I feel like...
You and Tequila Make Me Crazy!

You and Tequila Make Me Crazy!

DISCLAIMER! This post is for grownups! There’s some bad words I think. 😉 Don’t ya just LOVE Facebook! Yes, I am being factitious! I swear some days I love it (like my birthdays;P) and other days I think to myself, “Really, are you THAT braggadocios?! What the hell is wrong with some people!!” Lol! But for the most part Facebook and I have a good relationship. I am going to blame Facebook for my mayhem on Friday though! On Friday I was looking at a bunch of pics my peeps were posting of them enjoying these amazing margaritas in honor of National Margarita Day! MY MOUTH WAS WATERING ALL DAY!! I even teased a friend who was at a health spa in California (getting her butt handed to her and was sipping some sort of grass out of a straw in all kinds of pain) to screw all that and go find the nearest bar and get drunk! I couldn’t wait to get home and get started on concocting my own! But before that, I had to hit our local liquor store!! I decide to go with my husband in the afternoon to run errands, and talk him to celebrating National Margarita Day with me! Now, for those of you who know my husband, get up off the floor and stop laughing. For those of you who don’t know Uncle Taco, Grandpa Shepard, or Rabbit, as I call him, he is not a drinker. We all take bets behind his back at events on how many sips of one beer (if any) he is going to drink. It’s just...
What Was I THInKiNg!!!?

What Was I THInKiNg!!!?

I have been on a blog hiatus! I guess because it’s the summer or because I wasn’t sure what to “write home about”, BUT now that summer is coming to an end and school is around the corner (or starting for some) I figured I need to get back at it! I have not only been on a blog hiatus but also on an exercise, eating right, and just plain acting right hiatus!!! Last week I was visiting a friend and this is that friend that even though summer is here and she lets on that she is binging like me, we all know her butt (an amazing one at that) is still up at 7 am working out and she’s eating right with the exceptions of weekends. Let’s admit it, SHE IS DISCIPLINED! Anywho, I love being with her, not just because she makes me laugh and more, but because when I am with her in a bathing suite I feel like a heifer!  It makes me want to GET DISCIPLINED! So for the last week I have been getting back on track! You know, because just staying on track takes all the fun out of life! Ha! In the mornings I usually go power walking or do my elliptical (I am determined to prove my husband wrong about it being a $1000 coat hanger)! I have to build up to my P90X that I still have to prove him wrong about too, but that is a different blog! Today I was walking on my new route.  I went down my road (about a 1/2 mile) and since I didn’t have my 2...
Friends In Low Places

Friends In Low Places

Over the weekend I had a few of my friends come out to the farm and bring the whole Kit and Caboodle with them (you know ~  husbands, the kids, the dogs, food, beer, crafts…). What a great weekend it was! I wish I had the White House sitting here on the land so I could house each one of my treasured friends and their great families. If you can dream you might as well dream BIG, right?! As I sit here in my empty house with my kids and husband passed out from all the fun, I am a little lonely. I am missing the laughter, the kids screaming, all the dogs running in and out of the house, our sweet hubbies grilling out back and all the rest of the warmth that comes from having good friends. I walked through my house and hardly had anything to do because they left me with only a few sheets and some towels to wash. What precious people. I almost wish there was more to do so I wouldn’t be so sad that they had to go! I am such a social butterfly and living out here in the sticks makes it hard to fill my cup with what I get from being with my friends. Friends are my treasures. I am an only child and I guess, because of that, I treasure my friends like I would a sibling. That may not make sense to some, but it does to me.  I am so blessed with an abundance of amazing friends in my life. Each of them are unique and special. One may...
Purging, Swearing and other thoughts…

Purging, Swearing and other thoughts…

I have been a mad woman cleaning out and purging over the last couple of weeks! I think it’s so interesting how much stuff piles up. Over the last two years I have been doing good at getting rid of my family’s and my excess crap, but I have also been taking care of my now two year old. Needless to say I wasn’t as on top of it as I should...

A little background on a backwuds barbee

I am an open book…for the most part. I was taught to not tell everything you know.  It’s best to keep people guessing a little. I have been a jewelry whore all my life.
